Sustʻāina ble Molokai has been a member of the Hawaiʻi Farm to School Hui, and the Island Coordinator for the Molokai Farm to School Network since 2012.
In this role we provide resources to promote the 3 core elements of Farm to School in our island schools:
- School Gardens – students engage in hands-on, experiential learning in a variety of subjects through gardening.
- Education – students participate in education activities related to agriculture, food, health, and nutrition.
- Sourcing – local foods are purchased, promoted, and served in the cafeteria, as a snack, or in classroom taste-tests.
In addition, we regularly host workshops for teachers to learn how to implement farm to school curricula (P-12).
