Sustʻāina ble Molokai has been a member of the Hawaiʻi Farm to School Hui, and the Island Coordinator for the Molokai Farm to School Network since 2012 (see flyer in dropbox).
In this role we provide resources to promote the 3 core elements of Farm to School in our island schools:
- School Gardens – students engage in hands-on, experiential learning in a variety of subjects through gardening.
- Education – students participate in education activities related to agriculture, food, health, and nutrition.
- Sourcing – local foods are purchased, promoted, and served in the cafeteria, as a snack, or in classroom taste-tests.
In addition, we regularly host workshops for teachers to learn how to implement farm to school curricula (P-12).
