Poultry Egg Production Project

The mission of our Poultry Egg Production Project (PEEP) is to increase local egg production, boost our local economy, and support our participants in their business goals. This program, which Sust’āinable Molokai piloted with our community, has received statewide funding and is being rolled out on neighboring islands.

Participants receive $2,500 in start-up equipment and supplies including 24 chicks, chick & pullet care starter packages (brooder box, feeding/watering supplies, feed), building materials for a stationary OR Mobile chicken coop (both inclusive of chicken runs)

This 8-month educational program on commercial chicken egg production includes:

  • 6 Zoom Workshops with Maxie Asagi of Asagi Hatchery
  • 6 Follow up Check-in Zoom sessions w/PEEP support team
  • 2 Zoom workshops on Chicken Foraging & Feed with Jennifer Hawkins of CTAHR
  • 4 Field Trips to past cohorts chicken farms

  • 1 – 1 Business Consultations with a Farm Business Specialist
  • G.E. License set-up
  • Assistance with a business plan & USDA registration
