Job Summary:

The Community Impact & Engagement Coordinator is responsible for strengthening Sustʻāinable Molokai’s connection with our community and supporters through storytelling, relationship-building, and impact-driven communication. This position creates and shares stories that demonstrate our collective impact—cultivating community support, nurturing long-term relationships, and guiding giving initiatives in service of Sustʻāinable Molokai’s mission.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Impact Storytelling & Communications

  • Collaborate with staff to collect, write, and share moʻolelo (stories) that highlight community impact and organizational accomplishments.
  • Manage and update the organization’s Impact Dashboard and ensure data and stories reflect current program outcomes.
  • Create and manage engaging content for social media platforms, newsletters, and website updates that align with Sustʻāinable Molokai’s mission and voice.
  • Support development of graphics, posts, and digital materials for community campaigns and events.

Community Outreach & Events

  • Coordinate and represent Sustʻāinable Molokai at community events, meetings, and outreach activities.
  • Help plan and facilitate site visits, community gatherings, and engagement events.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with local partners, volunteers, and residents to strengthen pilina (connections) across programs.

Donor Engagement & Giving Campaigns

  • Coordinate and implement giving campaigns and donor outreach efforts to sustain donor engagement and expand individual and giving.
  • Support strategies that build sustained relationships with donors, partners, and community members.
  • Assist in the development of creative approaches to increase visibility and community support for Sustʻāinable Molokai’s programs.
  • Track engagement and giving outcomes for impact reporting and future planning.

Collaboration & Internal Support

  • Work closely with program leads to understand and communicate the impact of their work.
  • Support cross-program collaboration by ensuring consistent messaging and storytelling across all initiatives.
  • Take initiative in identifying opportunities for improved communication, outreach, and visibility.

Desired Qualifications & Skills:
  • Molokai resident with deep understanding of and connection to the people, places, and community values.
  • Excellent communication, writing, and storytelling skills, with ability to convey messages clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Creative, self-motivated, and community-minded with attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Experience in community engagement, outreach, or donor relations preferred.
  • Skilled in content creation and digital communications, including social media, newsletters, and website updates.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build trust and relationships both internally and externally.
  • Ability to coordinate events and represent the organization in community settings.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills; able to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Familiarity with Google Suite, Canva or Adobe, and other communication tools preferred.
  • Commitment to Sustʻāinable Molokai’s mission of restoring ʻāina momona through community-based sustainability.
