ʻUmeke ʻAi o Molokai

Mission

‘Umeke ‘Ai o Molokai aims to be a community and resiliency center on the island of Molokai. This facility would be a permanent Food Hub and Food Bank, working with other agencies on island, to serve the entire Molokai community and become the headquarters for Sustʻāinable Molokai.

Goals

We envision this facility to have the following key components: - FOOD HUB: Mobile Market, Warehouse with packing area, commercial walk-in reefer(s) for storing fresh farm products, commercial walk-in freezer(s) for storing frozen food products, dry storage, commercial kitchens, farm to table cafe, demo farm. - Offices and community gathering spaces. - Educational and culturally-minded spaces. - Green building (LEED certified and/or living building). - RESILIENCY HUB: Food Bank, Transportation Vehicles, Distribution Spaces, Food and Energy Long Term Storage, Green Prototypes.
