Job Summary:

Oversee the Food Sovereignty (“FS”) Program which includes Food Hub/Mobile Market, Eggs to Market, Farmer Trainings, Food Bank/Pantry, and any new emerging food sovereignty programs. Work in collaboration with the Executive Director and fellow directors on program and financial strategies specific and related to food sovereignty. Manage personnel and contracts for consultants. This position requires the ability to understand and convey complex processes, and the desire to work in the Molokai community, with the Molokai community, and be an advocate for the Molokai community.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee management and coordination of the Food Sovereignty Program which includes Food Hub/Mobile Market, Eggs to Market, Farmer Training, Food Bank/Pantry, and any new emerging FS programs through community initiatives.
  • Work with the Executive Director and Finance Director on operational and financial strategies for all FS programs.
  • Initiate and set goals for FS programs according to the organization’s strategic objectives.
  • Maintain all permits and oversee food safety compliance for FS programs.
  • Identify, assess, and recommend FS funding opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the fund development team on developing FS grant proposals: narrative and budget.
  • Responsible for FS grant report writing, budget modification, and timely reporting.
  • Oversee progress toward FS grant objectives are within budget.
  • Lead assessment/evaluation of FS projects/programs; ensure alignment with Molokai community needs.
  • Build and maintain healthy relationships with program partners, Molokai producers, and other key community stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with all FS government relations.
  • Follow and enforce relevant policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Represent the organization in island- and state-wide FS initiatives.
  • Collaborate with staff on outreach strategies for FS programs; provide programmatic content for use in outreach materials such as websites, social media, flyers, etc.
  • Recruit and train necessary staff.
  • Prepare program reports for Board of Directors' meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Desired Qualifications & Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or 5+ years of experience in a related field.
  • Resident of Molokai.
  • A Molokai community-minded outlook and vested in our vision of ʻāina momona.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously while remaining attentive to details.
  • Ability and time to spearhead efforts with short notice during times of an emergency.
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to be efficient in a hybrid work environment and reliable internet capabilities: minimum requirement of Zoom, Google Drive/Docs/Sheets/Forms, Dropbox, MicroSoft skills.
