Job Summary:

The Food Access Coordinator supports mobile market and food access program operations to strengthen Molokai’s local food system. This role ensures excellent customer service, manages inventory and vendor relationships, coordinates mobile market activities, and supports food pantry, food bank, and certified kitchen operations. The position also leads community outreach efforts, builds relationships with partners and residents, promotes food access programs, and collaborates with internal teams and external stakeholders to improve food access and advance community food security initiatives.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

County & Statewide Food Access Leadership

  • Represent Molokai and Sustʻāinable Molokai in a leadership role with partners and stakeholders.
  • Participate in statewide coalitions and collaborations with other Food Access Coordinators.
  • Support the design and implementation of the Molokai Strategic Food System Development Plan in partnership with key stakeholders.

Customer Service & Operations

  • Assist with receiving deliveries, unpacking, and proper storage of products.
  • Ensure product quality and freshness.
  • Provide excellent customer service, ensuring a positive and welcoming experience for all customers.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and overall appearance of Food Hub spaces.

Inventory, Vendor & Market Management

  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure appropriate purchasing and consistent stock availability.
  • Develop and manage inventory flow between the Mobile Market, Food Hub, and Food Access.
  • Research, identify, and manage vendors; procure value-added and locally sourced products.
  • Support development and implementation of sales strategies to increase customer engagement and revenue.
  • Assist with Mobile Market operations, including order aggregation, packing, and delivery (including driving company vehicles as needed).

Food Hub & Program Coordination

  • Assist the Food Hub Manager with customer logistics, including software updates, order adjustments, and communication related to pickups and deliveries.
  • Identify operational improvements, efficiencies, and market opportunities, including analyzing customer demographics and trends.
  • Attend regular meetings with the Food Hub Manager and Food Sovereignty Director and support program coordination needs.

General Responsibilities

  • Communicate effectively across teams and with community partners.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Serve as an advocate for the Molokai community and local food systems.
  • Engage in cross-training and be prepared to provide backup coverage to ensure program continuity and team support.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Desired Qualifications & Skills:
  • Knowledge of local food systems and experience in food distribution, logistics, grocery, or related fields
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Forms
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, customers, and vendors
  • Positive, flexible, and results-driven mindset with a commitment to improving local food systems
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and ability to operate a refrigerated box truck
  • Ability to frequently lift and move up to 75 lbs
  • Availability to work weekends and occasional evenings as needed
